Greetings and Welcome to Nine-Muses

As Founder of the group I would like to introduce our administrators, What better way than with by sampling their ART.  Some of our admin are busy at the moment and have not been able to provide an introduction. These will be added as soon as the are received.

As for me, I reside in the awesome city of Islamabad, by training I was an a soldier (Wing Commander Retd.), by education I am an Engineer (Avionics) and somewhere inside I am an aspiring photographer.  In the world of art I am a simple soul, and what best describes me is the saying by  Helmut Newton

"Look, I'm not an Intellectual - I just take Pictures"

From Cape Town, South Africa, Grant is a photographer and a contributor to Nine-Muses.  Grant enjoys "found" (observed) images, rather than "made" (posed or arranged) images. Art is a creative outlet for Grant who is inspired by the world and the people he sees engaging in the world around him. Henri Cartier Bresson and Ansel Adams have been influential to his creative endeavors.

     


Andaelentari Co-Founder
Elizabeth comes to Nine-Muses from Ohio, United States. She works in various traditional art mediums and digital art (photomanipulation). Art to Elizabeth is an emotional outlet and a "paycheck."  Music is her muse and inspires her creations.  We welcome her input and assistance.

     


AndersStangl Co-Founder
Born and raised in Lund in southern Sweden, Anders now lives with his wife in a small nearby village. To Anders art is a creative outlet that captures the beauty, soul and grace of animals and nature. He loves to capture the universal expressions of all humans; for example, a focused rider going over a jump has the same expression as any other person fully focused on a task. Initially inspired by the works of Robert Mapplethorpe, Anders now finds inspiration from the beauty, power, grace and soul of the animals he photographs.

From Colorado, Maggie lends her talents in writing and photography to Nine-Muses.  She also enjoys dabbling in photomanipulation.  Art is a means for Maggie to express herself and what she sees in the world around her. She is most inspired by he world around her.

months
came and left,
taking my love
with them and
leaving me
with dry,
cracked skin;
forget-me-nots
were planted
across her
moist grave to
remind me that
love doesn't
end in death.     please forgive usi.
we stood our ground
among the deserted trees
with our arms outstretched,
fingertips pointing to
the dead and forgotten hills
like the bare branches,
and our naked bodies
firmly rooted down.

the bitter cold seeped into
our veins, making our tender
skin become dry and flaky,
crumbling with each blow of the wind;
making our hard-working heart
slow down and its beats
reverberate against the drums
in our ears until they become soft taps.
iii.
wilted plants and weeds learned
to grow around us, just as rocks
eroded under and between our toes,
along with vermin that quietly nibbled
on our emotionless eyes;
there we stood, very still like
scarecrows- except we were real beings
exiled from society for being different.


Cinnamoncandy Co-Founder

Candi is from Pennsylvania in the USA and a hobbyist artist. Her main art focus is photomanipulation, but she dabbles in photography, writing and makeup artistry as well. Art for Candi is an outlet for creativity and a way of sharing with others something she finds to be beautiful.

     


Clippercarrillo Moderator
Moderator, Rene lives in Kansas. He is a photographer whose muse and inspiration is compassion for living things, love of wild and secret places. Art, for Rene, is a way of understanding the gift of life. His nature focused photography is an asset to Nine-Muses.

     


DormirReverPeuEtre Moderator
From the South of France in a region near the Mediterranean Sea and Spain, Nine-Muses welcomes Phillipe and his creativity. Phillipe enjoys creating photographic works and writing French literature, prose and poetry. Art feeds his soul and provides him with the best escape from the standards of society. Beauty is his guiding muse and can be found in his works.

     


EarthHart  Co-Founder
Will is a rather green ancient hippy photographer who is also a bit of a yarnweaver. He is from the USA. He enjoys Streeting (shooting Street & Street Portraiture),  and catching Mother Nature's wonders in the Plant & Animal Kingdoms. Will loves finding the characters in Nature, those who we don't always see - a face in the bark of a tree etc. And, he is addicted to Reflections. Most of all, he loves walking the Land, with all his senses wide open.

     


Gigi50 Co-Founder
From Canada Nine Muses welcomes Gigi.  While Gigi's current medium of choice is photography, she is also talented in painting, drawing and craftsmanship.  She describes art as the admiration of beauty and creativity and is inspired by her muse, Mother Nature. Gigi is also a talented and passionate hairstylist who, although being semi-retired, continues to practice this creative outlet.

 JennyStokes Co-Founder
Jenny is a long time art lover who shares her time between France and Sri Lanka. She expresses her creativity through photography and digital art.  She as also worked in the mediums of clay and traditional arts The influence of her muse, Edward Lear, can be seen in her illustrations.  Nine-Muses would like to thank Jenny for her support and work in making our group a success.

     


Kcthreads Co-Founder
Nana resides in the metropolitan area of Kansas City, USA. She works primarily in soft pastels, but also uses watercolor and oils. In 2013, her work was juried in the Missouri Valley Impressionist Society's Nation Show - "American Vistas". Nana loves to work with her hands and finds inspiration in the beauty of the world. Art is an expression of her wonder, delight, passion and curiosity as well as a compulsion to express her experiences in a way that she can see and feel outside of her psyche.

Jacqueline comes to DA from Eden on Australia's southern coast. She utilizes several art mediums, from acrylic paints, ball point pens,watercolours, and photography which is probably my main focus. Art to Jacqueline is an emotional outlet soothing her when she feels angry, overwhelmed or stressed. It is her language and her soul inspired by her surroundings, the beauty of nature and her emotional responses to the world.

Lisa is an American living in the United Kingdom.  She expresses herself through writing, but is beginning to explore photography.  Her inspiration is her heart; what touches her heart touches her pen.  Lisa brings her love of creativity and art to Nine-Muses.

Paul-Shanghai Co-FounderPaul, who is originally from the United Kingdom, has lived in Shanghai, China for the past 10 years.  His medium of choice is strictly traditional graphite pencil.  Art to Paul is the most basic of human expression. Art is what separates man from animals and pre-dates humanities use of fire and the wheel.  His muse is his wife, ShanghaiSarah, who is also a gifted artist.

From the state of Ohio in the United States, Rachel brings to Nine-Muses her leadership as a co-founder.  She shares her works in poetry, prose and literature in general.  Art is Rachel's creative and emotional outlet. It's also her passion, what she dreams of doing and makes her life more bearable. Music is a huge inspiration for her. She is also inspired by amazing people, stories, and ideas.

The Flower Who Ran    A quiet and serene awakening happened all at once. One moment, my world was desolate and empty; the next, my world was transformed into a bright and vast landscape. Waves of the feeling of joy seemed to radiate from the earth. I had come so far from being all alone to being surrounded by solace and others just like me.
    This world, however ideal it seemed to be, did not revolve around me. This place wasn't created or staged for me-I discovered that one day.
    As my kin and I were contently swaying in the gentle summer breeze, a silhouette of a foreign being was seen coming over the horizon. As it approached, so foreign in the way it moved, I wondered why it couldn't just reside as I in the grassy meadow. Yet, it bounded around my whole world as if it was normal. It couldn't be, though, since I haven't moved from this spot my entire life.
How strange it was while in motion. It just couldn't sit still, even to bask in the sun. But, I was surp   There is a Mermaid Inside of MeThere is a part of me
That has ceaselessly wandered, like a solitary cloud,
Yearning to defy,
Suffering silently,
Dreaming of impossibilities and foolish things.
Her notions were naive and ridiculous,
Yet somehow understated
And they sparked awareness in me.
On the surface,
I am content with my life.
Deep down,
I feel like a square block being forced into a hole.
I don’t belong to this world presented to me
Though perhaps that’s just my bad judgment.
Still,
Something stirs within me,
A driving force takes hold of me.
A flood of hope fills me.
As we leap of the rough, rigid earth

A mermaid resides within me.
Oh how she desires to break her shackles,
She believes there is more than what the world has given us.
She implants a prevailing sense of expectation.
Do I dare wade in the shallow water?
My heart beats rapidly,
Blood pounds in my ears
As I contravene,
And break the surface.
I face my comprehension,
Embracing the rush   A Photographic Dream    The faded black and white photograph sits idly on the vanity. My exact likeness stares out at me from within the flowered frame. We stare at each other, admiring the intricate feature we share. She seems to understand how lucky I was to inherit such beauty from her, the ideal embodiment of femininity. A sort of arrogance glints in her eyes; her plump lips seem to smirk. Her creamy, alabaster skin glows with confident. She is aloof, to say the least. I know everything about this woman, my grandmother, as well as myself, by this photograph. I am the spitting image of her. I know that I am much more than my sorry excuse of a mother. I know that there is more to me than her. Because of my grandmother, I know that I come from more than a disrespected, cheap drunk. This photograph of my grandmother shows me everything that I could ever be.

I sit
And let my feelings rush out through my fingertips.
Timid notes sing out,
At first soft,
Barely there,
A mere whisper echoing throughout the universe.
Heart pounding,
I play carefully, cautiously
The world starts to sway with the gentle melody.
Suddenly,
I hit a sour chord
Abruptly,
Everything has stopped.
I feel the sweat drip down my neck
And my fear well up inside of me.
Discouraged,
I swallow
And set my shaking hands down once more
Upon the ivory and ebony keys
I take the risk
Of jumping so far
That I may never return.

As I leave my fears behind
And run towards the sun instead.

I feel the vibrations empowering my hands,

From the bustling streets of Warsaw, Poland, Nine-Muses welcomes Shi.  Shi enjoys exploring many forms of art including traditional mediums such as pen and pencil, mixed media composed and colored in Photoshop, digital art, tutorials and photography. Music has been and continues to be her muse and inspires her artistic endeavors.  Shi has contributed Nine-Muses by creating a beautiful skin and logo that will be used by the of the group.

Iyan brings her talents to Nine-Muses from the Philippines. Her primary medium of choice is painting in oils.  Art to Iyan is not only a way to live her life but also a means of survival.  The predominant subject of her works is dignified women who know who they really are and what they want from life.  They are independent and passionate at the same time.
